Dover, Del. (May 8, 2023) --- The Delaware State women's golf team sits in third place after the opening round of the 2023 PGA Works Team Championship at Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer, Al., on Monday. The Hornets posted a combined score of 297 (+13), 14 shots behind front-runner Texas A&M Corpus Christi (283; -1) and six strokes behind second place Howard (291; +7) in the 11-team field.
Individually, Delaware State's Claudia Hofmeister is tied for third among 54 competitors with an opening round score of 72 (+1), while teammates Ana Ferreyra-Heit and Emily Murray are tied for 10^th at 74 (+3).
Round two will be played on Tuesday and the tournament concludes on Wednesday.   
The Hornets finished second to Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the 2022 PGA Works Championship.
