FORMER HORNET TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE, AND RISING MMA STAR, SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES IN CAR CRASH

Dover, Del. (May 15, 2023) --- Shalie Lipp, a member of the Delaware State women's track & field team, and a rising mixed martial arts star, has died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash in Minnesota last week. She was 21 years  old. Lipp was a pole-vaulter for the Hornets in 2020 and 2021, and was pursuing a degree in Marketing while enrolled at Delaware State.
According to a published obituary submitted by Lipp's family, she put a pause on sports due to the Covid 19 pandemic, leading her to pursue her greatest passion. She stayed focused and dedicated to maintaining peak fitness while training at the gym regularly. It was here that Shalie discovered the Academy of Combat Arts - an MMA gym - where she fell in love with fighting. She proved her passion and dedication to everyone around her and quickly became a rising star in the MMA field.
