TOWSON, Md. --- The Delaware State men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Towson Spring Open hosted by Towson University over the weekend.

The Hornets claimed four individual event wins and numerous top-eight finishes at this invitational.

Delaware State opened up the two-day invitational with two of those individual event winning performances coming from
Peter Kamanu and
Christopher Johnson.
Â
Kamanu, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)-leading pole vaulter recorded a season-best height topping out at 4.61 meters. Johnson put himself in first place in the league in the men's shot put after launching a distance of 15.78 meters.

Catherine Glenn and
Tayshaun Chisholm both took home first place in their respective hurdle events on day two of the invitational.
Â
Glenn won the women's 100-meter hurdles with final time of 13.65 seconds while Chisholm took first in the men's 110-meter hurdles after clocking a time of 14.36 seconds.
Chidubem Okwudibonye finished third in the 400 Hurdles after running 1:02.87.

Andre Carr, Jr. took second place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.78 seconds while
Jaden Shelton finished right behind Chisholm in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.62 seconds.
Emperor Campbell clinched second place in the discus after launching a throw of 47.42 meters.

Annalise Bond claimed third place in the pole vault with a height of 3.40 meters.

The team of Carr, Jr., Shelton,
Malachi Brinkley and
Jalen Booth-Mitchell took second place in the 4 x 100 Relay with a time of 41.34 seconds while the team of Brinkley, Smith,
Elijah Brown and Alonso Sims, Jr took fifth in the 4 x 400 Relay with a time of 3:26.10.

In the women's 4 x 100 meter relay, the team of Glenn,
Kortney Brown,
Aaliyah Robinson and
Cierra Young clocked a time of 47.91 seconds to secure a third-place finish while the team of Okwudibonye, Robinson, Young and
Ansolei Taliaferro ran a time of 4:03.43 to rank fourth in the women's 4 x 400 meter relay
Sims, Jr. took home third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time 54.28 seconds with Brinkley claiming fifth place in the 200-meter dash after running a time of 22.06 seconds.

Elijah McLaren finished fourth in the triple jump with a final distance of 14.04 meters.

Ashley Lagat sat in sixth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase after finishing with a time of 12:55.76.

Devin Smith ran a time of 1:57.66 to sit in eighth in the 800 meters.

Delaware State returns to action this coming weekend at the Bison Invitational hosted by Howard University.
