Cary, N.C. (Mar. 19, 2022) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team wrapped up the MEAC Round-up on a high note, topping Norfolk State 6-1 at the Cary Tennis Park today.
Today's strong performance gives the Hornets a 5-3 overall record and 3-1 mark in the MEAC this spring. After a heartbreaking loss to defending MEAC champ South Carolina State on Thursday, the Hornets defeated North Carolina Central on Friday before today's solid outing against the 2021 MEAC North champion Spartans in the weekend round-up.
Delaware State took five of the six singles matches and earned the doubles point after winning two of the three contests vs. Norfolk State today.
Samara Guillory turned in the most solid singles performance today, winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
Klaudija Lisovska also won in straight sets, posting a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles.
Iris Leder (No. 4) and
Baluck Deang (No. 5) pulled out three-set wins, while Kit Yi Kay Au-Yeung (No. 1) was awarded the victory at No. 1 after her opponent could not complete the match.
Au-Yeung and Eva Golembiovska improved to 6-1 this season after a 6-1 win in No. 2 doubles, while Lisovska and Deang posted a 6-3 victory in the No. 3 doubles contest today.
Delaware State returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 22) at Mount St. Mary's. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. in Emmittsburg, Md.
