DSU WOMEN’S GOLF RECEIVES $100 THOUSAND DONATION FROM PGA

Dover, Del. (Apr. 28, 2021) --- The Delaware State University women's golf team is among five golf programs from Historically Black Colleges and Universities to receive $100 thousand dollar donations from the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) as part of the organization's social justice efforts.
The gift to the DSU women's golf team was among 6.4 million dollars directed to HBCUs from "The Match: Champions for Change" PGA event featuring golf great Phil Mickelson, along with sport stars Charles Barkley, Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning.
Delaware State head women's golf coach Rick McCall says the team and university are grateful for the generous gift and the PGA's social justice initiative.
"While specific uses for the funds have yet to be determined, we are certain to address immediate as well as long-term needs of the program," said McCall. "We also plan to give back and teach our student-athletes the power of reaching out to the community.
The spring 2021 Delaware State golf season has been highlighted by a first place finish at the five-team Navy Invitational earlier this month.
The Hornets will compete in their final event this season is the Minority Collegiate Championship next week in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
