Towson, Md. (Feb. 20, 2021) --- Towson swept six singles matches and earned a point by taking each doubles contest in a 7-0 women's tennis victory over Delaware State in the 2021 season opener for the Hornets. The match also marked the debut of DSU head coach
Pavel Zinchenko.
DSU's
Iris Leder took her opponent to three sets before falling in the No. 6 singles contest. Towson's Jessica Assenmacher won the first set 6-3, but Leder bounced back for a 6-4 victory in set two to extend the match. Assenmacher outscored Leder 10-5 in the third game for the match win.
DSU's
Cassandra Boltman won four games in the second set of her loss to Sarah Pospischill in the No. 5 singles contest.
Towson improved to 1-2 this season.
The Hornets will play their 2021 home and MEAC openers next Sun (Feb. 28) against Coppin State.
