Dover, Del. Feb. 17, 2021) --- Delaware State first-year women's tennis head coach
Pavel Zinchenko has announced that three future players have committed to attend the university and compete for the Hornets beginning in the 2021-22 season.
Zinchenko, who joined the Hornet staff last November, has sold Samara Guillory of Playa Del Rey, Cal., Lucia Corte of Gijon, Spain, and Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung from Hong Kong on the university and his program.
During her high school career, Guillory was team MVP as a freshman and a sophomore, and helped lead the team to two back-to-back league championships. A first team all-conference selection, she competed at No. 1 doubles and posted an undefeated two years in a row.
Corte was ranked as high as top 200 as an adult in Spain. She has very consistent playing style with an ability to go on the offense with her explosive shots.
Kit Yi Kaye has been ranked as high as top 900 juniors in the world and competed throughout Asia in numerous international tournaments. She was runner-up in the international tournament in Singapore in doubles, and reached the semifinal round in China and Hong Kong. In singles, she once advanced to the semifinals of an international tournament in Singapore.
"I'm very excited about each of these ladies, as I believe they will bring great value to the program on and off the court," Zinchenko said. "Their style of play is perfectly suited for college tennis and I can't wait to help them develop as athletes and as individuals."
