Dover, Del. (Feb. 21) --- Delaware State has announced a revised five-game schedule for the spring 2021 football season. The new schedule, which kicks off with a home game against Howard University on Feb. 27, was created after six of the Hornets' fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference members elected to opt out of the spring 2021 football season.  As a result, the MEAC this week suspended its  spring schedule and conference championship game.
In addition to Delaware State and Howard, South Carolina State has announced plans to proceed with its spring football competition.
The Hornets will face Howard and South Carolina State twice this spring, while DSU's previously announced contest against the University of Delaware at Alumni State remains on the schedule.
Game two of DSU's spring schedule will be at South Carolina State on Mar. 13. The Hornets will visit Howard in Washington, D.C., for their third spring contest on Mar. 27.
Delaware State's rematch with South Carolina State is scheduled for Apr. 3 at Alumni Stadium on the DSU campus.
The following Saturday (Apr. 10), Delaware visits Alumni Stadium for the first time to face the Hornets. The previous nine meetings between the state's two NCAA Division I grid programs were played at Delaware Stadium on the UD campus in Newark.
