DOVER, Delaware -- Delaware State used a big 419-yard showing on the ground, including 292 yards from Jayden Sauray, and four rushing touchdowns to pick up a 34-0 win against Franklin Pierce Saturday afternoon at home at Alumni Stadium.
The win improved Delaware State's record to 4-3 on the season while the Ravens fell to 3-2.
Sauray paced the Hornets rushing attack by accumulating 292 yards and three touchdowns over the course of the game, averaging 17.2 yards per carry. Nathan Stewart also added 28 yards on the ground, averaging 28 yards per carry.
Jaron Kelley hauled in three catches for 49 yards.
led the Delaware State defensive effort, totaling three tackles and one interception. Team added and Marquise Brunson had in the win.
Delaware State also had an outstanding day offensively, totaling 582 total yards, 419 on the ground and 163 through the air, while averaging 7.3 yards per play and out-gaining Franklin Pierce. The Delaware State offense did a good job keeping drives alive, converting on 46.7 percent of third-down attempts. The Hornets also went 2-for-3 on fourth down.
Delaware State's defense held up against Franklin Pierce's offense, allowing 203 total yards. The Hornets kept Franklin Pierce under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 103 passing and 100 rushing yards.

Delaware State took a 7-0 lead over Franklin Pierce after scoring the game's first points with 6:13 left in the first quarter.The Hornets then extended the lead to 10-0 with another score.
Delaware State then added a field goal with 4:23 left in the second quarter to make it a 13-0 lead.The Hornets continued to expand their advantage, scoring again to go up 20-0.
Delaware State continued to build its lead, scoring again with 8:33 left in the third quarter to go ahead 27-0.The Hornets kept scoring, tacking on a touchdown to extend their advantage to 34-0. Neither team scored again in the game.
