THE GAME
Delaware State (1-13; 0-0 MEAC) begins Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play against long-time rival Morgan State. The Hornets bring a six-game losing streak into the contest. DSU suffered a 78-76 home loss to NAIA Washington Adventist in its last outing on Dec. 30. The Hornets were outscored 19-9 down the stretch after leading for much of the contest. Delaware State was ahead 45-38 at halftime, but the Shock took the lead for good with three minutes left to play. John Crosby (sr.) was Delaware State's high scorer with 18 points in the game, snapping a string of five consecutive games with at least 20 points. Omar Peek-Green (fr.) was second on the Hornets with 15 points vs. Washington Adventist to match his season high. Peek-Green was five-for-seven from the field, including 3-of-5 on three-point shots. Crosby is tops in the MEAC and tied for ninth among all NCAA Division I players (as of Jan. 2) in scoring at 22.0 points per game. He has scored in double figures in 13 of the Hornets' 14 games, topping the 20-point mark in eight games and hitting 30-or-more in four contests. Center Ameer Bennett (jr.) is second on the Hornets (13th in MEAC) in scoring at 11.8 points per game. Bennett is also DSU's leader in rebounding at 6.9 per game to rank sixth in the MEAC.

Morgan State (6-9; 0-0 MEAC) enters MEAC play splitting two games in California last week. The Bears  began the trip with a 74-71 victory over Loyola Marymount before falling to Cal State Northridge 92-83 in the get-away game. David Syfax came off the bench to lead five MSU double-figure scorers with 15 points (7-9 FG) and eight rebounds in the Northridge contest. Troy Baxter led the Bears with 27 points (8-15 FG) vs. Loyola Marymount. For the season, Stanley Davis is Morgan State's top scorer at 14.2 points per game, sixth-best in the MEAC.
