HORNETS TOP WASHINGTON COLLEGE IN SPRING OPENER

Chestertown, Md. (Mar. 1, 2019) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team opened its spring 2019 schedule with a 7-2 victory over Washington College today.  The Hornets won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests.

Each Delaware State singles win was in straight sets.

Yelzaveta Bessonova posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles and teamed with Alina Polyvana for an 8-2 win in the No. 3 doubles match.

Polyvana was also impressive in her singles match, posting a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4.

Cassandra Boltman and Aayushi Chouhan were also double winners for the Hornets. Boltman earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles and Chouhan was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 5. The duo also joined forces for an 8-4 victory in the No. 2 doubles contest.

Anastasia Belkina collected a win in the No. 2 singles match by 6-3, 6-0 scores.   

 The Hornets (3-3) will return to action to Mar. 10 at Lafayette. The match is set for 3:00 p.m. in Easton, Pa.
