HORNETS BEGIN HOMESTAND WITH THU. CONTEST

Dover, Del. (Oct. 9, 2019) ---  The Delaware State women's soccer team will play its next three matches at home, beginning with a visit by George Washington on Thursday (Oct. 10). Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

The Hornets (0-13-0) are coming off a 2-1 loss to South Carolina State on Sunday. DSU trailed 2-0 before freshman Braelynn South scored her first career goal off a pass from Alyssa Coustenis in the 84th minute.

Mary O'Conner is the Hornets' leader with two goals and six points this season. Coustenis has a goal and assist to rank second on the team with three points.

George Washington, a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, brings a 9-1-2 record into Thursday's contest. The Colonials have won seven straight matches and are unbeaten in their last 11 contests, including nine wins, since a 2-0 loss to William & Mary in their season opener.

GW posted a 1-0 victory over Richmond in its most recent outing last Sunday.

The Colonials hold a 5-0 lead over the Hornets in the series. The teams last met in 2017. George Washington won the contest 4-1 at DE Turf in Frederica, Del.
