HORNETS NO MATCH FOR HAWKS IN SUN.  CLASH

HORNETS FRUSTRATED BY BULLDOGS IN SUN. MATCH

Orangeburg, S.C. (Oct. 6, 2019) --- Delaware State came up short in its bid for a win this season, falling to South Carolina State2-1  this afternoon.

The Bulldogs scored in the 35th and 51st minutes to open up a 2-0 lead.

The Hornets cut the deficit in half on the first career goal by Braelynn South with less than six minutes to play (83:36). Alyssa Coustenis was credited with the assist on the South goal.

Delaware State was unable to get off a shot in the final minutes to fall to 0-13-0 this season. South Carolina State improved to 2-9-0.

The Hornets attempted six shots in the second half, although SC State held a 12-7 advantage in the match. South had a season high three shots, including two on goal. Geligne Franklin and Daijah Norris recorded two shots each for DSU.

DSU goal keeper Fabrea McCray recorded six saves, including four in the second half.

The Hornets return to action with a home match against George Washington this Thursday (Oct. 10). Start time is set for 5:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
