LATE GOAL BY DSU NOT ENOUGH IN 2-1 LOSS AT FDU

(Dover, Del.) – Sunday afternoon, the Delaware State women's soccer team (0-9) came up short on the road to the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights (4-5-1) behind two second half goals, 2-1.

Throughout the first period, the Knights tallied 10 shots, compared to DSU's lone attempt.  With the help of her teammates, DSU goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky (0-9) kept FDU off the board with three saves.

Nevertheless, the Knights broke through during the 54th minute when midfielder Kasey Schiavoni placed a corner kick near DSU's goalie box, resulting in midfielder Amanda Goulet (2) putting a header shot past Koslosky for the goal.

Later in the half, FDU extended its lead during the 68th minute with defender Laniyyah Elam (1) securing the ball deep inside of DSU's territory after a free kick and shooting by Koslosky for the goal.

Despite being down, the Hornets cut the deficit in half during the 85th minute by way of an own goal.

Nevertheless, the Knights were able to hold off DSU for the remainder of the stanza to secure the victory.

At game's end, FDU finished with 19 shots, whereas the Hornets tallied three attempts. In the case of Koslosky, she recorded a game-high five saves.

Coming up, DSU will be back home this coming weekend for back-to-back games, beginning with NJIT on Friday (7 p.m.), followed by a matchup against Cornell on Sunday (1 p.m.).
