(Emmitsburg, Md.) – Sunday afternoon, the Delaware State women's soccer team (0-7) took its first lead of the season by way of a Kelly Pelz-Butler (1) goal early in the first half, but Mount St. Mary's reeled off three unanswered scores to take down the Hornets, 3-1.

During the third minute, DSU capitalized with the ball deep in Mount St. Mary's territory when forward Taylor Addison (1) sent a pass to Pelz-Butler who was able to beat goalkeeper Vicky Cocozza (1-3) for the score.

Later in the period, same score, the Mounts were able to tie the match during the 38th minute when midfielder/forward Jackie Glanfield (1) found forward Jackie Corley (3) for the goal.

At the half, both teams went into the locker room with the score still knotted at one.  Offensively, the Mounts out-shot the Hornets, 7-4, while DSU's Katelyn Koslosky (0-7) tallied two saves on the defensive end.   

In the second half, the match remained tied until the 76th minute when defender Kate Murphy (1) placed a corner kick near DSU's net, as midfielder/defender Keriann McGettigan (1) knocked it in via header.

About three minutes later, the Mounts extended their lead when midfielder/forward Alicia Mirando (2) was there for a rebound and score after a shot by Glanfield (2).

In the case of DSU, it was unable to spark a rally as Mount St. Mary's held on for the win.  When the final buzzer sounded, the Hornets finished with six shots, while the Mounts totaled 19. 

In the net, Koslosky finished with five saves, whereas Cocozza came away with two stops.

Coming up, the Hornets will return home for the first time since Sept. 1 when they will take on the Wagner Seahawks this Friday at 7 p.m.
