DOVER, Del. - Mount St. Mary's Jackie Corley posted the seventh hat trick in program history and the Delaware State University women's soccer team was unable to respond as the Hornets fell, 3-1, to the Mount at Alumni Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Chelsea Boursiquot (Stratford, Conn.) score DSU's lone goal on the day, a shot coming in the 58th minute. Boursiquot found the center top portion of the goal after receiving the ball about 15 yards out from freshman Danielle Valente (Wallingford, Conn.). The goal was Boursiquot's second of the season while the assist was the first of Valente's collegiate career.
Corley scored the first goal of the day in the 29th minute for the Mount (5-4-0). Standing thirty yards out on the right side, the junior lofted the ball into the top of the net after receiving it from Kelly Baker. Hornet freshman goalie Mekayla McAdoo (New Castle, Del.) got her hands on the ball, but was unable to stop the score.
Corley got off her second score in the 44th minute, a 20-yard goal, with an assist from Keriann McGettigan. Her third and final goal came in the 65th minute, a shot to the top right corner of the net. The assist came from Ragan Cote.
Delaware State (0-7-1) was outshot in the game, 13-6. The Mount posted nine shots in the first half to just two for DSU. Mount St. Mary's also led in corner kicks, 5-1.
In addition to Boursiquot, senior Jeanette Salgado (Bergenfield, N.J.) also recorded a shot on goal against the Mount.
In her first career start, McAdoo collected two saves in 90 minutes.
