The Lady Hornets (2-4; 1-1 MEAC) are coming off a hard-fought 54-40 loss to MEAC favorite Howard on Monday. DSU cut a 12-point deficit to four in the second half before running out of gas. Junior Deanna Harmon was high scorer for the Lady Hornets with 16 points (5-8 FG) in the contest. The loss snapped a two-game win streak for DSU.

Sophomore Tierra Hawkins, the reigning MEAC Player-of-the-Week, is tops on the team and third in the conference in scoring at 21.0 points per game. Hawkins has scored at least 15 points in each of the team's six games. In addition, she ranks fifth in the MEAC in field goal percentage (.511; 47-for-92) and sixth in rebounding (8.0 pg).

Harmon is 11th in the conference in scoring at 11.2 points per game.

New Jersey Tech has dropped its last four games to fall to 4-5 this season. The Highlanders are coming off a 67-58 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday.

Rayven Johnson leads NJIT with a 17.7 point per-game average. Sarah Olsen is second at 12.8 points. Olsen has a team high 28 three-point field goals.

Delaware State and NJIT have split their last two meetings, with each winning close games on the road. The Highlanders defeated the Lady Hornets 57-53 in 2011 at DSU's Memorial Hall. The last time the teams played at NJIT, the Lady Hornets won an 82-74 overtime contest in 2010.

Delaware State will return home on Dec. 15 to face Albany. The start time has been moved to 7:30 p.m. due to the Winter Commencement in Memorial Hall earlier in the day.
