NEWARK, Del. - Freshman Katelyn Koslosky (East Islip, N.Y.)
collected a career-high 10 saves Friday evening, but the Delaware State
University offense had difficulty finding the net as they were downed, 2-0, by
the University of Delaware Friday night at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
"We
definitely frustrated them and goals didn't come as easy as in previous
seasons," stated DSU head coach Nitan
Soni. "Katelyn did a great job in
the net, but our offense needs to back her up."
UD
junior Ali Miller scored both goals for the Blue Hens, each coming with an
assist by senior Amy Pickard.
The
two goals allowed are the fewest in series history, as Delaware won the first
two in-state meetings 7-0 in each.
The
Hornets were outshot by the Bluehens, 24-4, on the night with sophomore Darcy Pelz-Butler (Silver Spring, Md.)
getting off DSU's lone shot on goal.
The
loss sends DSU to 1-7-1 on the season while Delaware moves to 3-3-1 and 3-0
all-time in the women's soccer Route 1 Rivalry.
The
Hornets return home on Sunday as they host American University at 1 p.m. at
Alumni Stadium.
