Dover, Del. (Aug. 27, 2010) --- The Delaware State women's soccer team is off to a rough start on its two-game Florida swing. Kassandra Sorzana scored two goals to lead Florida International to a 4-1 win over DSU in Miami this evening. FIU improved to 2-2 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 0-3.
Sorzano opened the scoring when she fired a shot off a rebound past Delaware State goal keeper Courteney Hass in the 19th minute.
The score help up until Sorzano tallied her second goal of the match in the 44th minute. Less than a minute later, Chelsea Leiva scored off a pass from Carlan Jones to give the Golden Panthers a 3-0 lead just seconds before intermission.
Florida International stretched its lead to 4-0 on a goal less than two minutes into the second period.
Delaware State avoided the shutout when Michelle Giorgilli scored an unassisted goal, her first of the season, in the 55th minute.
The Hornets will wrap up their Florida swing with a match at Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday.
