HORNETS FALL TO LEOPARDS

EASTON, PA.. (Sept 4, 2009) - The Delaware State women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Lafayette on Friday at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.

"I'm very proud of the way we didn't quit and continued to work hard," said head coach Nitan Soni.  "We're just a bit short on bodies right now, and our depth is an issue.  We walk off the pitch feeling worse than we are because of the scoreline, but considering I think we've continued to show heart and character."

Lafayette (1-1) got on the board in the 28th minute with an Olivia Hawes strike past the left side of keeper Brittany Curtis.  Only down a goal at halftime, the depth became an issue for the Hornets in the second half when Dana Moyer dribbled in and placed a shot in the upper 90 of the DSU goal in the 58th minute.  Two late tallies from Bridget Becker and Jill Dozier in the 87th and 89th finalized the scoring for the Leopards

DSU (0-2) looks to pick up their first result of the young season on Sunday against Wagner.  Match time is set for 1 p.m. on Staten Island.
