Raleigh, N.C. (Apr. 17, 2009) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team has been eliminated from the 2009 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament after a 4-1 loss to Florida A&M this afternoon. The Rattlers won three of four completed singles match and two doubles contests to claim the win. Polina Razborova posted the lone win for the Hornets, topping Latreece Olagbegi 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match. DSU's Anna Kovtun (No.1), Cassandra Newton (No. 4) and Hannah Adewumi (No. 5) each fell in straight sets. Adewumi suffered her first singles loss after 16 consecutive wins during the fall and spring seasons.
The No. 3 and No. 6 singles contests were halted after the overall match outcome was decided.
Florida A&M also swept the two completed doubles contests (No.1 & No. 3) by 8-1 scores.
The loss snapped a three match win streak for the DSU women, who finish the spring season with an 8-3 overall record.
