Lawrenceville, N.J. (Sep. 22, 2008) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team continued its dominating play this fall with a 7-0 win over Rider University on Sunday. The Hornets improved to 3-0 on the season, winning each match by shutout. Yaroslava Balakhonova (No. 1 singles) and Polina Razborova (No. 4) each posted 6-0, 6-0 victories vs. Rider, while Hannah Adewumi (No. 5) and Julieta Yung (No. 6) won by 6-0, 6-1 scores. Anna Kovtun (No. 3) won her match 6-2, 6-0. Cristina Andrade Pires (No. 2) also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Razborova has yet to lose a game in three singles contests this season. Balakhonova, Pires, Kovtun and Adewumi are also 3-0 in singles play this season, with each yet to lose a set. Delaware State also won all three doubles matches against Rider. Razborova and Kovtun teamed up for an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Cassandra Newton and Adewumi were 8-1 winners at No. 2 doubles. Balakhonova and Pires posted an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles match. The DSU women have won 268 games, compared to 22 for its opponents in its three matches this season. The Hornets return to action on Friday (Sep. 25) at home against Millersville. The match begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley College Tennis Courts.
