WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia --The Delaware State defense totaled seven sacks, but the Hornets fell 22-15 to William & Mary on the road Saturday night.
The Tribe improved to 2-0 on the season while the Hornets dropped to 1-1.
paced the Hornets rushing attack by accumulating 57 yards over the course of the game, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. Jenkins also tacked on 40 receiving yards. Noah Brannock also added 45 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Terrence Rone hauled in three catches for 42 yards.
paced the Delaware State defensive effort, totaling seven tackles, 0.5 TFL, and one recovered fumble. Carl Nesmith added seven tackles, 3.5 TFL, and two sacks and Quoy Rainey had six tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack in the loss.
Delaware State's defense limited William & Mary's offense, giving up 187 total yards. The Hornets kept William & Mary under 100 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing just 98 passing and 89 rushing yards. The Hornets defense disrupted William & Mary's backfield all game, piling up seven sacks and 13 total tackles for loss.

William & Mary opened up a 22-0 lead, but Delaware State got on the board with 9:59 left in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 22-8.The Hornets then scored again, narrowing their deficit to 22-15. Neither team scored again in the game.
