HARRISONBURG, VA --The Delaware State volleyball team lost to the JMU Dukes in straight sets (19-25, 12-25, 18-25) Saturday on the road at JMU Convocation Center.
The non-conference loss moved Delaware State to 9-4 on the season.
Aaliyah Mitchell finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense. got nine digs from Ailena Mykins to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets found themselves in an early hole, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Delaware State trailed by as many as seven points as JMU grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was notted up four times before the Dukes took control.
SET 2 | Delaware State dropped the second set 25-12, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Hornets fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Hornets fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-18.
