TAMPA, Florida -- Delaware State fell 59-17 to South Florida on the road Saturday night.
The Bulls improved to 3-0 on the season while the Hornets dropped to 2-2.
Ui Ale led Delaware State's passing attack with 249 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns without throwing an interception. The signal caller also added 49 yards on the ground.
In addition to Ale's effort, Jayden Sauray paced the Hornets rushing attack by accumulating 21 yards over the course of the game, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.
Nathan Stewart reeled in two catches for 102 yards and one score.
Kemari Nix paced the Delaware State defensive effort, recording six tackles and one recovered fumble. Carl Nesmith added 1.5 TFL and one sack and Team had in the loss.
Both Delaware State and South Florida forced one turnover in Saturday's contest, with Delaware State turning that takeaway into seven points.
How It Happened
Delaware State responded to a 7-0 lead from South Florida with a score to tie it up at 7-7 with 4:47 remaining in the first quarter.South Florida then scored to take a 21-7 lead before the Hornets put a field goal on the board to narrow the gap and make it a 21-10 game.
Delaware State got on the scoreboard again with 1:18 remaining in the second quarter to narrow South Fla.'s lead to 21-17. Delaware State didn't score again in the game and South Florida tacked on 38 more points to finish off the scoring.
