The Delaware State men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong showing at the Widener Danny Curran Invitational, highlighted by multiple top-10 finishes and conference-leading performances.
On the women's side, Mariah Winfield sprinted her way into the top 10 in the 100m dash, while Kahlia Smith added to the sprint success with a top-10 performance in the 400m dash to finish with a final time of 58.91.Â
In the field events, Aniyah Smith and Gabrielle Almonte both secured top-10 finishes in the javelin, continuing to make an impact for the Hornets. Ilianna Surowiec delivered one of the top distance performances of the meet in the 3000m steeplechase, earning a top-10 finish while claiming the No. 1 mark in the MEAC this season.
On the men's side, Deidric Gibson led the way with top-10 finishes in both the 100m and 200m dash, while Messai Maynor added another top-10 placement in the 200m dash.Â
In the field, Ja'Mari Manson stood out in the high jump, earning a top-10 finish while securing the No. 2 mark in the MEAC and placing among the top 25 in the NCAA East Region.
