Durham, NC --The Delaware State women's basketball team got a 14-point performance from the bench, but fell 58-44 to the North Carolina Central Eagles on the road Monday.
Jermesha Frierson led the Hornets (4-19, 1-7) with 13 points and two steals. Liliana Harrison also tacked on seven points and seven rebounds and Toni Smith chipped in as well with four points and six rebounds off the bench.
The Delaware State defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Monday's game, forcing 19 North Carolina Central turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 11 points on the other end of the floor. Frierson's two steals led the way individually for the Hornets.

How It Happened
Delaware State kept it close in the first quarter, but entered the second frame down 15-12.
Delaware State then started off the second quarter by going on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Frierson, to take a 17-15 lead. The Eagles then came roaring back to take a 25-20 lead heading into halftime.
Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 44-30 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring six of its 10 points in the paint.
North Carolina Central kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 56-34 advantage before Delaware State went on a 10-0 run, finished off by Frierson's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 56-44 with 1:11 to go in the contest. North Carolina Central responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 58-44. Delaware State took advantage of five North Carolina Central turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of those takeaways.
