Frank Springs, Georgia - The Delaware State University women's wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the NCAA Regional Championship, highlighted by two individual qualifiers and a top-half team finish.
Leading the way for the Hornets,
Icart Galumette battled through a competitive 117-pound bracket to secure a third-place finish and punch her ticket to the national tournament. Galumette's resilience and determination were on full display as she fought back through the consolation rounds to earn her spot among the nation's best.
At 145 pounds,
Louise Juitt put together an impressive run of her own, advancing to the championship bout and finishing as the regional runner-up. With her second-place finish, Juitt officially qualified for nationals, solidifying herself as one of the top competitors in her weight class.
Haylie Briscoe also made a deep run in her bracket, finishing fourth and coming just one match shy of qualification. Her performance contributed valuable team points and showcased the continued growth and competitiveness of the Hornets program.
As a team, Delaware State placed seventh overall out of 18 teams, a testament to the depth, grit, and progress of the women's wrestling program. With two national qualifiers and multiple podium finishes, the Hornets leave the regional championship with momentum and pride as they prepare for the next stage.Â
