Durham, NC --Miles Webb and Ponce James combined to score 38 total points - 60.3 percent of Delaware State's points - but the Hornets fell to the North Carolina Central Eagles 72-63 on the road Monday.
The Hornets (6-17, 1-7) had three players score in double figures, led by Webb, who had 21 points. James tacked on 17 points and Kareem Watson chipped in as well with 10 points off the bench.
Led by Muazibini Adamu's three offensive rebounds, Delaware State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in 12 second chance points.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 16-13 advantage, Delaware State went on a 6-0 run with 10:12 left in the first half to increase its lead to 22-13. The Hornets then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 33-32 advantage.
North Carolina Central then erased the Delaware State lead in the game's final quarter for a 72-63 comeback victory. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for eight of its 30 total points.
