Delaware State shoots 58.3 percent from deep, defeats Maryland-Eastern Shore 65-57

DOVER, DE --The Delaware State men's basketball team shot 58.3 percent from deep on the way to a 65-57 victory against the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks at home Saturday.

The Hornets (6-15, 1-5) had three players score in double figures, led by Kareem Watson, who had 14 points and three steals. Corey Perkins added 12 points and five assists and Dean Shepherd helped out with 11 points from the bench.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 15-14 advantage, Delaware State went on a 9-0 run with 8:03 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Jalen St Clair, to increase its lead to 24-14. The Hornets then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 34-25 advantage. Delaware State relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 34 points.

The Hornets then held on for the victory in the second half. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 13 of its 31 total points.
