Orangeburg, SC --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 20-point showing from the bench, but fell 70-64 to the South Carolina State Bulldogs on the road Monday.
The Hornets (5-15, 0-5) had three players score in double figures, led by Dean Shepherd, who had 14 points. Zion Bethea added 13 points and two steals and Miles Webb helped out with 11 points.
Delaware State out-rebounded South Carolina State 31-27 in Monday's game, paced by 12 boards from Muazibini Adamu.
How It Happened
After falling behind 24-11, Delaware State went on an 8-0 run with 6:29 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Webb, to narrow its deficit to 24-19. South Carolina State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Hornets down 32-25 entering halftime.
South Carolina State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 56-47 advantage before Delaware State went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 56-53 with 6:07 to go in the contest. South Carolina State responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 70-64. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 13 of its 39 total points.
