DOVER, DE --The Delaware State women's basketball team fell to the Morgan State Lady Bears 61-59 at home Saturday on Kailyn Nash's buzzer-beating shot as time expired.
Ericka Huggins led the Hornets (3-16, 0-4) with 28 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Jermesha Frierson tacked on seven points, seven rebounds and six assists and Kaitlyn Adams helped out with six points and two steals from the bench.
Delaware State took advantage of fantastic ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 16 assists on 24 made field goals. Frierson's six assists were the most for the Hornets and Nykesha Sanders also added four assists of her own.
Delaware State forced 18 Morgan State turnovers. The Hornets turned those takeaways into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Adams' two steals led the way for Delaware State.

How It Happened
Delaware State started out the scoring by going on a 6-0 run, culminating in a three from Nevaeh Reaves, to take an early lead with 7:59 left in the first quarter. The Hornets then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 16-13.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 26-21 halftime deficit.
Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 51-38 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring 14 of its 17 points in the paint.
Delaware State narrowed its deficit to 55-46 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Huggins' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 55-53 with 4:58 to go in the contest. The Hornets were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 61-59. Delaware State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 21 points in the paint.
