DOVER, DE --Ponce James scored 22 points and Rahmir Moore added 20, but the Delaware State men's basketball team fell to the Morgan State Bears 80-79 at home Saturday.
James and Moore's stellar scoring performances led the Hornets (5-14, 0-4) in the contest. James tacked on three assists and Moore added two steals. Jalen StClair also helped out with eight points.
Muazibini Adamu pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead the Delaware State offense which grabbed 11 boards and turned them into 10 second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 42-30, Delaware State went on a 6-0 run with 2:19 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Cyril Obasogie, to narrow its deficit to 42-36. The Hornets deficit remained the same as they entered halftime trailing 44-38.
Morgan State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 56-38 advantage before Delaware State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Jalen Stclair's layup, to shrink the deficit to 56-44 with 13:45 to go in the contest. The Hornets kept their comeback going, but Morgan State managed to hold on for the 80-79 win. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 18 of its 41 total points.
