Webb, James combine to score 36, Delaware State falls to Howard 84-58

WASHINGTON, DC --Miles Webb scored 19 points and Ponce James had 17 more, but the Hornets fell to the Howard Bison 84-58 on the road Monday.

Webb led the Hornets (5-13, 0-3) with 19 points and two steals. James added 17 points and Corey Perkins helped out with seven points and four assists.

Bessanty Saragba pulled down two offensive rebounds to lead the Delaware State offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into nine second chance points.

How It Happened

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 38-25 heading into halftime.

Howard kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 82-49 advantage before Delaware State went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 82-55 with 47 seconds to go in the contest. The Hornets kept their comeback going, but Howard managed to hold on for the 84-58 win. Delaware State made the most of seven offensive rebounds to tack on six second chance points out of 33 total in the period.
