DOVER, DE --The Delaware State women's basketball team could not keep up in a 69-53 loss to the Norfolk State Spartans at home Saturday.
The Hornets (3-15, 0-3) had two players score in double figures, led by Jermesha Frierson, who had 19 points, six rebounds and two steals. Liliana Harrison added 12 points, six rebounds and two steals and Nykesha Sanders added eight points and four steals.
Led by Harrison's three offensive rebounds, Delaware State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in seven second chance points.

How It Happened
After falling behind 20-12, Delaware State went on a 7-0 run with 2:48 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Ericka Huggins, to narrow its deficit to 20-19. Norfolk State answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Hornets down 22-19 entering the second quarter.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-23 halftime deficit.
Delaware State came out of halftime on fire, going on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Frierson, to trim its deficit to 39-29 with 5:27 to go in the third. Norfolk State countered and stretched its lead to 54-34 heading into the fourth. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.
Delaware State narrowed its deficit to 64-47 before going on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 64-52 with 2:23 to go in the contest. Norfolk State responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 69-53. Delaware State pulled down three offensive rebounds to score six second chance points out of 19 total in the period
