QUEENS, NY --The Delaware State volleyball team took care of business in three sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-23) to knock off the Marist Red Foxes Friday at Carnesecca Arena.
The non-conference victory improved the Hornets' overall record to 4-4 on the season.
Gerren Tomlin finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .276. got nine digs from Ailena Mykins along with six blocks from Aaliyah Mitchell to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets grabbed control on the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-16. Delaware State led by as many as 11 points at 23-12 before finishing off the set.
SET 2 | Delaware State won the second set 25-17 to quickly grab a 2-0 lead. The Hornets grabbed the set propelled by a solid showing on the attacking end. Delaware State registered a .480 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set win. The Hornets opened up a 24-15 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. The Delaware State offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza. Delaware State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Marist attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Delaware State closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking set three. The Hornets trailed by as many as six points, but took the lead for good at 24-23 in a set that featured 11 ties and seven lead changes. They then carried that lead to a 25-23 set win. Delaware State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Marist attacks in the stanza.
