WASHINGTON, D.C. --The Delaware State Hornets were not able to score a run against Howard pitcher senior Mia Gonzales on Saturday and were shut out 6-0 by the Bison.
Freshman Kaylanie Rodriquez (4-3) got the ball to start for Delaware State (17-15, 5-5) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Delaware State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the third, when freshman Mi'Shon King made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Delaware State pitchers faced 35 Howard hitters in the game, allowing 12 ground balls and three fly balls while striking out three.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --Junior Mianna Lopez went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI for the Delaware State Hornets in a 9-1 loss to the Howard Bison on Saturday.
Sophomore Kristin White (3-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (17-16, 5-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Lopez put Delaware State on the board with a leadoff home run off senior Ameenah Ballenger. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Howard added seven runs to their tally on the way to a 9-1 final.
