Newark, DE — The Delaware State University (DSU) Men's Track & Field team made a powerful statement this past weekend at a competitive meet in Newark, delivering standout performances, setting school records, and filling the podium in multiple events against Route 1 rivals, University of Delaware.
Leading the charge was Marian Drazan, who etched his name into the DSU record books with a jaw-dropping performance in the 1500m Run, finishing first with a time of 3:55.27, setting a new record in the process. Drazan wasn't done there—he came back to take second place in the 800m Run, showcasing his versatility and endurance.
Ian Cain stormed through the 800m Run to claim 1st place with a time of 1:52.40, earning the #3 fastest time in DSU history for the event. Cain's performance was a highlight for the Hornets against their Route 1 match up.
Christopher Johnson was a two-event standout, taking 2nd in Discus and grabbing 3rd in Shot Put, showing dominance in the throws. Recent MEAC Field Athlete of the week, Ja'Mari Manson soared to 3rd place in High Jump, while Malcolm Gray also cracked the top 10 with an 8th place finish in the same event.
Donovan Dixon doubled up in the hurdles, finishing 3rd in the 110m Hurdles and 4th in the 400m Hurdles, while Dyson Coley pushed through in the 3000m Steeplechase, landing a strong 3rd place finish in the event. Peter Kamanu secured 3rd place in the Pole Vault, continuing DSU's success in the field events.
Alonzo Sims clocked in at 4th in the 400m Dash, and Jordan Earl bounded to 5th in the Triple Jump. Evan Knox placed8th in the 100m Dash and 6th in the 200m Dash. He was joined by Aiden Laws, who took 7th in the 200m. Jonathan Drew rounded out the distance events with an 8th place finish in the 1500m Run.
