LORETTO, Pa. - Delaware State women's lacrosse had a tough afternoon against the Saint Francis University Red Flash on Saturday, with the home team coming away victorious 19-2.

BY THE NUMBERS

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SAINT FRANCIS

  • The Red Flash had their first goal just over a minute in. Mondy saved a few shots, and Delaware State's defense forced a shot clock violation. However, it was 7-0 after one.
  • Saint Francis continued their attack in the second quarter, even with the Hornets getting shots up. Under two minutes in the half, Genesys Spann caused a turnover that led into a successful clear. The Red Flash were leading 12-0 at the break.
  • Delaware State came out firing in the third quarter. After a yellow card was assessed to Saint Francis, Downing and Tia Epps had back-to-back shots, with Epps scooping up both ground balls. London Stewart would take the next shot and score. Although the Red Flash ripped off three straight goals, Downing ended the quarter with her own. Saint Francis had a 15-2 advantage through three.
  • The home team added four goals in the final 15 minutes. The Hornets' defense saw solid plays, with Mondy, Epps, Madden Alexander, and London McFarlane contributing caused turnovers. It was too late for a comeback, though. Saint Francis won 19-2.
