DOVER, Del. - Delaware State women's lacrosse dropped a 22-9 decision to the Mercyhurst University Lakers on Saturday, despite key performances from London Stewart and Dylan Wilkes.
The Hornets are 1-9 for the season. They are 0-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MERCYHURST
- Mercyhurst opened the afternoon with a 5-0 run before London Downing put Delaware State on the board on a man-up situation. Stewart followed with a score two minutes later. Wilkes ended the quarter with a man-up goal to make the score 7-3 Lakers.
- As Gotz won the second quarter's opening draw control, Wilkes scored again. The Hornets' aggressive shot-taking would result in a Stewart score from Downing. This forced a Mercyhurst timeout. The two sides exchanged a goal each, with Delaware State's coming from Saniya Craft on a free position. However, the Lakers responded with another 5-0 run. It was 13-6 at the half.
- The third quarter saw Stewart complete a hat trick with her third goal. Even with a few caused turnovers and Mondy saves, Mercyhurst extended their lead to 18-7 through three quarters.Â
- In the fourth, the Hornets got past Mercyhurst's goalie twice. Kristin Sims cashed in with a Gotz assist. Multiple Delaware State shot attempts in the closing minutes turned into one final goal, this time from Madden Alexander. Mercyhurst won 22-9.
