DOVER, Del. - Delaware State women's lacrosse was unable to keep pace with the Le Moyne College Dolphins on Saturday morning, as the Hornets suffered a 15-5 loss.
The Hornets are 1-6 for the season. They are 0-1 in conference play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Five different Hornets each scored one goal.
- Saniya Craft and Kimaari Mondy each caused three defensive turnovers.
- Mondy made the start in goal and recorded 12 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LE MOYNE
- Within the first three minutes of action, Craft started Delaware State's scoring. Multiple Le Moyne free-position attempts eventually put them on the board for their first score. The Dolphins pushed forward with a 4-0 run overall to end the first quarter.
- London Stewart got past the goalie in the second quarter on a man-up free-position shot. The two sides would exchange scores throughout the quarter. London Downing was responsible for the other Delaware State goal. But, with Le Moyne leading 5-3, the Dolphins responded with a 5-0 run to close out the half. It was 10-3 going into the locker room.
- Despite an early Dolphins goal in the third quarter, Downing and Craft were wreaking havoc on defense via caused turnovers. The Hornets' offense was aggressive in shot attempts, but Le Moyne's goalie defended well. Dylan Wilkes cashed in on the lone Delaware State goal in the quarter on a man-up free-position shot. It was 13-4 through the third set of 15 minutes.
- Mondy recorded multiple saves in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins put two goals in the net to conclude their scoring. Aniyah Jones checked in at goalie for the last 2:26. Ceanna McGirt added a man-up goal from a Zahra Gotz assist with 1:38 left. However, Le Moyne finished with a 15-5 victory.

The Hornets head to Brooklyn, N.Y. for a matchup against the Long Island University Sharks on Saturday, March 22. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
