BOSTON, Mass. — The Delaware State University men's indoor track and field team launched the 2025–26 season in explosive fashion at the Harvard/HBCU Ivy Challenge, delivering multiple podium finishes and two school records against a highly competitive national field.
Senior Christopher Johnson and reigning MEAC High Jump Champion Ja'Mari Manson marked their names into the record books with standout performances. Johnson powered his way to a new program mark in the shot put, recording a throw of 16.57 meters to place second overall. Manson followed with a record-setting clearance of 2.04 meters in the high jump, also earning second place.
On the track, sophomore Ian Cain made an immediate impact to open the season, capturing first place in the 600-meter dash with a winning time of 1:20.84. Cain later doubled back to help lead Delaware State to a second-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay alongside Tori Willis Jr., Keith Jenerette, and Kenneth Cruz.
The Hornets continued to assert themselves across event groups as AyoMosiah Odumosu claimed second place in the triple jump, while Anai Burney-Green posted a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Manson added another runner-up performance in the high jump to cap an outstanding season debut.
