SYRACUSE, NY --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 20-point performance from the bench, but fell 83-43 to the Syracuse Orange on the road Saturday.
Ponce James led the Hornets (0-2) with nine points and two steals. John Clemmons tacked on eight points off the bench and Cyril Obasogie helped out with six points and seven rebounds from the bench.
Led by Bessanty Saragba's three offensive rebounds, Delaware State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 17 boards that resulted in 13 second chance points.
The Delaware State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 14 Syracuse turnovers. Those takeaways turned into seven points on the other end of the floor. Corey Perkins led the way individually for the Hornets with three steals.
