NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 26-point showing from the bench, but fell 68-57 to the Niagara Purple Eagles on the road Monday.
The Hornets (0-3) had two players score in double figures, led by Ponce James, who had 17 points and eight assists. John Clemmons tacked on 10 points off the bench and Rahmir Moore added six points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 15-8, Delaware State went on a 7-0 run with 12:26 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Ademar Santos, to tie the game at 15. Niagara then pulled ahead, sending the Hornets into halftime down 34-26.
Delaware State could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 68-57. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 31 total points.
