DOVER, DE --The Delaware State women's basketball team got a 24-point performance from the bench, but fell 63-41 to the Pennsylvania Quakers at home Monday.
Mahogany Cottingham led the Hornets (1-2) with seven points and two steals. Liliana Harrison also tacked on eight points from the bench and Ericka Huggins helped out with six points and two steals off the bench.
The Delaware State defense was a problem in Monday's game, forcing 19 Pennsylvania turnovers while committing 15. Those takeaways turned into 13 points on the offensive end of the floor. Cottingham's two steals led the way individually for the Hornets.

How It Happened
After falling behind 16-6, Delaware State went on a 5-0 run with 1:28 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Cottingham, to narrow its deficit to 16-11, a score that would hold for the rest of the period.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 36-17 halftime deficit.
Delaware State started to cut into the deficit after halftime, bringing it to 52-34 by the end of the third quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 17 points in the paint.
Delaware State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 63-41. Delaware State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down one shot to account for three of its seven points.
