WASHINGTON, DC --Martaz Robinson, Robert Smith and Kaseem Watson each recorded at least 20 points, but the Delaware State men's basketball team fell to the Howard Bison 100-94 on the road Saturday.
Robinson led the Hornets (7-8, 0-1) with 28 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Smith tacked on 27 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals and Watson helped out with 22 points.
Delaware State shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 16 assists on 31 made field goals. Smith's six assists led the Hornets.
Alston Andrews led the way for the Hornets on the defensive end. Delaware State forced 18 Howard turnovers while committing just nine in Saturday's game. The Hornets capitalize off those turnovers with 22 points on the offensive end of the floor.Â

How It Happened
After falling behind 53-42, Delaware State went on a 5-0 run with 2:00 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Smith, to narrow its deficit to 53-47. Howard answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Hornets down 55-47 entering halftime.
Howard kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 57-47 advantage before Delaware State went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Watson's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 57-56 with 17:01 to go in the contest. Howard responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 100-94. Delaware State capitalized on 10 Howard turnovers in the period, collecting 13 points off those turnovers.
