BALTIMORE, MD --The Delaware State volleyball team fell to the Coppin State Lady Eagles 3-1 (14-25, 25-23, 15-25, 18-25) Friday on the road at Physical Education Complex.
The loss dropped Delaware State's record to 4-10 overall and 0-1 in MEAC play.
The Hornets attack was paced by Aaliyah Mitchell, who finished with 10 kills on the day, and by Gerren Tomlin, who had 10. got 19 digs from Emma Crakow to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-14. Delaware State trailed by as many as 11 points as Coppin State grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up two times before the Lady Eagles took control.
SET 2 | Delaware State fired back after dropping the first set to take the second set 25-23, evening the match at 1-1. The Hornets grabbed the set powered by a solid showing on the attacking end. Delaware State registered a .308 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. The Hornets rallied from down six at 16-10 to grab the win.
SET 3 | Delaware State dropped the third set, putting the Hornets in a 2-1 hole. The Hornets dropped a tough set 25-15. Delaware State trailed by as many as 11 points as Coppin State grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up three times before the Lady Eagles took over the lead.
SET 4 | Delaware State then fell in the fourth set 25-18 to finish off the match. The Hornets trailed by as many as seven points as Coppin State grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 and Delaware State wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up six times before the Lady Eagles took over.
