COLLEGE PARK, MD --The Delaware State volleyball team lost Wednesday as the Maryland Terrapins posted a four set (15-25, 11-25, 25-23, 12-25) win on the road at the XFINITY Center Pavilion.
The non-conference loss moved Delaware State to 2-8 on the season.
Aaliyah Mitchell finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense. got 9 digs from Paige Meins to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets found themselves in an early deficit, losing a tough first set 25-15. Delaware State trailed by as many as 10 points as Maryland grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up just once before the Terrapins took control.
SET 2 | Delaware State lost the second set 25-11, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Hornets fell behind on the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State rallied back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Hornets survived a back-and-forth set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.
SET 4 | Delaware State couldn't keep the momentum and lost in the fourth set 25-12 to drop the match. The Hornets dropped the first point and never took the lead before losing the set.
