The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Delaware State got a grand slam from senior Krew Bouldin off of freshman August, scoring all four of their runs in the inning.

The Hornets then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the second inning after the Fightin' Blue Hens cut it to 4-1. Delaware State scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-RBI double from sophomore Evan Bouldin, which brought the score to 7-1 in favor of the Hornets.

Delaware narrowed Delaware State's lead to 7-5 before the Hornets stretched the advantage to 14-5 in the fifth inning. The Hornets bats heated up in the inning, scoring seven runs, including a two-run double off the bat of senior Krew Bouldin.

Delaware State held the Fightin' Blue Hens without a run before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Hornets sent in a run on Yaoita's two-out RBI double, bringing the score to 15-5 in favor of Delaware State. The score remained 15-5 for the rest of the game, as the Hornets coasted to the win.
