GAME 2 | Coppin State 8, Delaware State 2
BALTIMORE, Md. --The Delaware State Hornets had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Coppin State Eagles 8-2 despite the efforts of sophomore Lester, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Senior Mclntosh (3-3) got the ball to start for Delaware State (7-14, 1-5) and took the loss.
Offensively, the Hornets were paced by Lester, who went 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI. Senior Modrego Lope put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the third inning. Lester came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State and get them on the board.
The Eagles broke the tie and re-took the lead heading into the seventh inning, when the Hornets got back on the scoreboard. Delaware State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Lester, which brought the score to 8-2 in favor of the Eagles. The ballgame ended with that seventh inning rally falling short. Coppin State was led offensively by sophomore Manaia Fonoti, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI. Senior Vanessa Carrizosa led the Eagles pitching staff, throwing seven innings of two-run ball.

The Hornets will return to action Tuesday, March 26 when they host Sienna College in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
